[:1]If Blizzard would implement this change:
Set squelch to default to on for everyone. If you want to hear someone, you should then unsquelch them.
If you can't see the spam, then item farm sites will stop making spam bots. This loss of advertising will reduce item farm sites.
They should also implement captcha's for making or joining a game. This will reduce bots. IP restrictions don't work, as these bots hide IP with a proxy anyway.
This will help make the next ladder competetive again.
Yes, it took me 10 years to come up with this fix, but I'm still more ahead of the game than Blizzard.|||Wouldn't work. As long as people are willing to pay REAL Money to these sites, they'll find workarounds. Haven't been in the WoW kingdom for years, but I bet even there the gold farming is alive and well - but at least there its harder to automate party raids for that uber gear
The best fix for D2 - play SP. As long as you don't mind an artificial dclone spawn and a nerfed uberland (both unapproved by the SPF here, so keep that in mind), you can effectively get the entire D2 experience without the drama, the lag, the spam, etc.
You also can finally find out what its like to run pindle 1000 times in a row.
Ladder stopped being competitive when they started requiring an insane amount of xp to hit cap - captcha's alone would not be enough but definitely a step in the right direction.|||If they disallow connection to bnet using 3rd party programs then you'd see a lot less spam bots.
