Rares better than uniques - Page 5

Quote:

You forget something important: most people who are still playing D2 like the item system. Otherwise they would no longer be playing. And because Blizzard is more likely to cater to people still playing D2 than those who quit two months after LoD because they hated the item system, uniques will reign in D3 again.

Well most that are playing now have no clue about the old systems. So they can't compare it to anything else but their own imagination of the perfect system. I doubt the item system was the issue when people started quitting lod. There was more severe reasons imo.

Some examples:

1. Rushing

2. Leeching/party exp bonus

3. Fast leveling to 90+ in Bloody/cows

4. Mf running, the ever continuing hunt for items rather than leveling character and at the same time getting items.

5. Ladder racing was pretty much gone when you got to 99 in 37 hours.

In general the expansion changed too much and brought too little and also it came too soon. Only 1 year of the original and then a huge change. I suppose people would have enjoyed the big change more if it didn't come so fast when you just had gotten used to how the things were working.

Anyways about the items.. I just want totally different system as in D2, since it is a totally new game.|||Items Wish List

I have to drop my two pence worth into this box!

One good aspect at the moment is that I still use all types of equipment. Im going to go through the good and bad aspects of each type. Each item type should have something that other item types cannot offer, making them still worth using:-

Magic Items:

still have the best in some stats -

+3 'sin trap claws, +3 warcry sticks, +3 gloves

But have less mods on each item, this is as it should be.

Rares:

Not so good, appart from some rare circlets,& resist boots i hardly use rares. I have one 404% ED Javelin, its the only item that competes with Runewords / Uniques (and mostly coz there is no rune Javelin!!).

Rares should be able to have some better stats than Uniques & Rune words.

Sets:

I love sets, and they have become pretty much useless in since 1.10 - Rune words are way overpowered in comparison. I use the occasional set peice - notably Guillaumes face for its great stats, but not because of its Set bonuses. This should be rectified.

Crafted Items:

I still love to craft items, it takes allot to get an amulet better than Maras, but it can be done. Gloves too. One thing here is to allow crafted items abilities that Uniques/set/rune items don't have. +2 skills and 10+% faster cast is one example in D2E. Please let us do more crafting. Make Crafted Items have more Sockets. This allows players to try and design their own items = fun.

Runewords:

These are a bit messed up. 1.10 offered us a whole lot of new toys, which was great and extended the games life and playability BUT at the cost of making allot of other items redundant.

The best thing about rune words in hunting for the base item to put them in. Make Socketable items more varied, so they affect the resulting item more. I have almost stopped hunting for Uniques (got em all anyway) and now i hunt Socketables. Again we like building our own items, make it more versatile.

Rarety:

Please dont make items and runes with a 1 in Gazillion chance of dropping, let everyone have a go at using everything - not just some LEET crew that play 24/7. Character strength should be about clever builds not how long you play the game for. I spent a year looking for a Windforce with my friend in 1.08, it was a buzz when it dropped but he traded 3 Dupes for 30+ SOJs before it dropped in a cow level.

Summary

In my dream D3- i would merge Magic Items and Socketables, so the base item had more affect on the rune word. Boost the stats on Rares so like current magic items they offer superior stats in some ares. Offer cooler Sets, and make more of crafting.
