More then just Campaign?

Before I start I must point the fact that unlike D2 where "1 hit = player dead" in D3 you will have to hit it at least 20 times before you can celebrate, D3 will be much more balanced in terms of DMG/HP, I hope everyone here is informed about this.

-------------------------------------

So in D2 we had only one entry, lets call it campaign on normal/nightmare/hell and that's it. In D3 I would like to see some other entries as well.

Something like when you want to host the game on battle.net-2.0 opens the window with list of few different games you can host:

1. Sanctuary [ the world where you complete quests, find gears, kill monsters with your friends etc.. ( we all know it ) ]

2. Battlefields [ place where you can have 1v1 / 2v2 / 3v3 / 4v4 / 5v5 matches, like some sort of "not so big" land where you can have nice arranged pvp with friends, it would also make D3 very successful in e-sport WCG etc.. I know blizzard-south cares too much about WCG events. ]

3. Defense [ something like siege defense but not literally, where you can test your characters by defending a city from constant invasion or something like that ]

Ofc there are hundreds of other types which I would suggest like "capture the flag" and related, I mean every action game has those features, from unreal to wow, so I would like to have them in D3 as well, It would make Diablo much more played.

Even if I'm pretty sure that many in Blizzard suggested this already, I plan to post this idea on blizzard.com anyway, but before that I would like to see what you think about this and how many of you agree with me?|||Totally agree, this adds a lot to the game ^_^

Nox (an old Action/RPG game similar to D2) had some exciting PvP modes ... and that was years ago, so D3 must have some varied PvP choices and options or its PvP will fall short as boring and repetitive.

The only problem would be insuring how those games would be balanced ... probably by enforcing a rule that allows only those who are 5 lvs above or below the game starter to join the game .. so that we don't end up with a lv.60 barb competing against a lv.18 wizard in capture the flag .. it won't be fair that way.

On the other hand NOX did it in another way, they used pre-made characters that are only available to PvP special modes (you select a class -> select few skills -> pick few weapons -> then start PvP match ), i'm not sure how much this could be applicable in D3 but it is quite hard to imagine how it will work.|||i like the defence one...

but seriously its ALOTS of work and by that i mean seriously to much...putting battlefield in would mean they would have to perfectly balance the PvP aspect of the game and not just implant it...which would take wayyyy to much time..then you have the HUGE lvl difference...and then you got more balance issue...and after all that you got the gear balance...you do know that you have to balance both when you implant a system like this in a game right?

and i dont seem to recall them telling us that there would be no more 1 hit kill....sorry O_o...boss of course they want to have no more 1 hit kill...but normal monster are still 1 hit kill and fast action...i would love to see the quote on that cause i never heard any of this and if its the case it wont be really that fun imo...TQ and sacred 2 all have slow killing with some class and they are almost not played...seen any brigand or conj vid on youtube?...they are the most played one...well they were before the game died...hitting a boss 20 time is nothing...but hitting a monster 20 time?....with the swarm im used to in D2...this could make it tedious O_o

Also basic PvP like capture the flag or hold the point and such unless you got the game that depend on this kind of multiplayer gameplay or that it as something original to it...it still stay a multiplayer that wont last really long

Nox multiplayer was really meh imo...was really new for some time but became old quite fast...and also wasnt that popular either...and more so now since EA shut the door on the online a while back and that you can only play with korean it seem nowaday O_o

and it was also premade char...so meh i would rather see an original D3 mode then these old bad idea that only last a few month...but then again blizz arent really about original idea also O_o

id rather see them work on the game itself to add longevity then to put these kind of option in really..but still i like the siege kind of gameplay idea|||Quote:

Exactly.

Well I guess some type of degree system where everything counts, your dps, stats, skills, mana, hp etc.

In example 4 players join the game and then the system creates 2 teams out of 4 ppls, like on dota-league by observing their points.

Stronger the stats = greater degree.

-If there are 4 ppls:

1. player = 22dps

2. player = 15dps

3. player = 8dps

4. player = 3dps

-then system will form:

Blue Team [ 1. and 4. player ]

Red Team [ 2. and 3. player ]

That's very simple example only counting dps stats, but in the same way will work even if you add 20 more stats to be calculated.

I wasn't talking about PvM, that's different, PvM will still be 1-3 hit kill depending on the lvl ofc, but PvP will be changed drastically. If you need interviews with Jay Wilson talking about this - search on youtube, you should find many of them there.

Yeah, I just mentioned that as an example so people get the picture what kind of suggestion I'm making, but yes ofc classical "capture the flag" would suck. I think Blizzard will think of something that will last for much longer.|||I've never cared much for PvP myself. However, capture the flag or defend the fort or some games like that could be pretty fun. I wouldn't mind something like a gladiator arena where they keep sending monsters at you in waves. I don't even think the side games would need to give experience or drops. Just have them there for fun. Maybe if you earn some achievement in them you'd get a little reward to display on your character that has no added benefit to gameplay. I think those types of additions to the game could be really fun.|||kinda starting to sound like guildwars factions Fort Aspenwood. always loved that pvp mode more than the strict 4v4 with pugs.

CTF is a no for me i dont see it working

but the "horde" gametype sounds like a winner with say a strong boss after a set number of waves. and like there could be a ladder for that (who lasts the longest... single and team) but i agree no exp or drops in these games besides globes. and different areas, so that u dont just have to camp one area and they only come from one direction.|||Yes of course, no drops and no XP, just for competition and ladders. Glad you share this opinion, so I guess I'll keep asking about this on blizzard.com and wait for bashiok to answer me ^^|||Quote:

I agree, this mode would really be lots of fun, as for the drops and items, i do understand that it is better not to have XP or items gain from this mode to keep it fun and fend-off the XP and Gold farmers who could ruin it.

But there is one way to make it interesting .. like some sort of COMBO meter that you fill up with continuous quick kills and the more you fill it the stronger your attacks become ... or something similar to that ... there could even be item drops that you use within that arena but can't take it with you outside it.

As for possible rewards ... achievements will be the main reward ... there could also be some spoof or honor items (i.e .. a cool looking scarf or a royal helmet) they are exact copies of normal items (i.e .. normal helmets or normal necklaces) but with better/special art.|||Alternate modes would be nice, but it will be tough to pull them off right. Above all, we don't want to take any focus from Sanctuary. PvP arenas would be nice, since Blizz could raise the player cap for them. Endurance mode would be nice, and it could still give a little XP and loot. Capture the flag? No. Besides the fact that it would ruin the mood (look at war-song gulch in WoW), a wizard could just teleport in, grab it, and teleport away. Or a barb with Charge and Leap. There could also be a mode where you start at the entrance to a dungeon and have to go through like the Blizzcon demo, but that might take away from Sanctuary so I wouldn't recommend it.|||Quote:

Heh, I don't think so, if Blizzard wants to add more mods it will not affect sanctuary at all because they never release the game until it's finished, that is what defines them.

It would only take more time to develop the game, but I waited for D3 8 years, I will gladly wait 4 more years if necessary so we can have colossal Diablo.
