Rewards for Survial in SC & HC: Prizes Inside

I think a lot of people would like to be rewarded for not dying.

Having played Sacred, I am a fan of their "survival bar" and would like to see something like it introduced in a more Diabloish fashion.

If you've never heard of this survival bar, basically killing enemies causes it to fill up and dying resets it to zero. Having a fuller bar results in enemies you kill dropping slightly better loot.

What can you guys come up with as a fun, Diablo style method for introducing survival type rewards into DIII? I'm willing to listen to all creative, crazy, and inventive suggestions. Maybe your ideas will be quest based, item based, experience based, kill based, ect... and the rewards could be all different types of things.

I'm going to give my first three unique drops in DIII to whom I deem to post the top three ideas! My mini-contest will end after 5 days, so post your ideas now! |||Lot harder than to think of penalties to dieing. But here we go...

If you manage 20 levels without dieing, a spirit of [some famous dead D1/2 character] will appear, congratulate you and offer instructions how to find piece of his/her old gear.

I'd like to see experience gain bonus but i just can't think of a nice story behind it. Hows the dieing and experience handled in lore anyway hehe

edit: Came up with a new one... When you've killed a ridiculous amount of enemies without dieing, Diablo himself recognises you and is kinda worried. He will offer you a deal, beat his elite army in a special arena and he'll give you a reward. Offcourse this offer is just a scam and he wants to see you die!! You accept the offer step into the portal diablo opens for you and enter the arena. Then... Diablo reveals you the truth, you will never win his army. You must now survive 5 waves of monsters or diablo will steal a chunk of your experience. If you survive the 5 rounds, you'll get all the experience killing them. Diablo will then make a new offer, Double or nothing... Double the experience you've gained or lose it + the original chunk. Offcourse the enemies will become much harder. You can continue as long as you want but if you die you get nothing and lose experience instead. If you quit while ahead you get massive experience, the experience killing the arena monsters, maybe exp worth a whole week at lvl 99. This would work both in SC and HC. If you die in HC diablo arena you'd stay alive...|||A few of ideas here:

You get an aura that radiates more intensly (or changes color) the more level gains you make without dying. It is purely cosmetic and for braging rights.

You get different titles that proove you never died, unlike in d2 where the titles do nothing except show you beat a difficulty (big deal). Cosmetic.

A unique is designated to drop for every 10,000 kills you make without dying. Of course, the item level will be averaged from the slain monsters' levels. So if you kill mostly all act 1 normal foes you get a lowly unique, even though you are in act 4 hell when you make the 10,000th kill to get the drop.

You get a discount from vendors which resets to 0 if you die. They give you a discount because they know you will survive and keep coming back to their shops.

There are special quests revealed that you can only get by not dying.

You get a 1% damage increase to your weapon for each level you wear it without dying.

You can promote your character to hc mode each 25 levels that you remain alive. You only enter hc mode with the gear you are wearing and not your stash items.

One of your worn items has its random mods increased a bit for each 20 levels you remain alive.

Hidden 6th character class you can only unlock and play after you made it to lev 95 without dying!|||Quote:

The only change I'd like to make is that people can see you're a Guardian ingame; its the best way to say "I'm better than you. At everything." If you can suddenly get more items or more damage or whatever then it becomes "You're a guardian, but it was easier for you than it is for me."

A lot of HC players will tell you that the possibility of having special benefits for HC mode is unappealing because they want to be playing the same game, but do so in a way that proves they're better. As such, I think any modifier has to be cosmetic.

I imagine you're talking about rewards for not dying in SC mode. But if you don't intend to die, why are you playing SC anyway?|||How about the longer you are without dying the more experience you gain from killing monsters?|||interesting.. i would like to see d3's creative team give diablo's take on this concept
