mules and stash / great idea!...? - Page 2

If you hire a guy just to hold extra items, why would he come into battle with you? Wouldn't he just stay in town? But if the guy stays in town, what's the difference between him and a locked chest you can put items in, like a stash? Buying upgrades to your stash makes sense, buy hiring a guy to hold your stuff doesn't.|||Quote:

Sigh, what kind of logic is that .. why can't he hold your items and fight along side you too .. there is no reason why he can't come into battle carrying items (you too are carrying tons of items and is fighting like a killing machine ... so why can't he carry few items and still be able to fight ... surely not as much items as you but still it helps)

Of course the mercs that carry items have less battle skills or fight less better than the mercs which can't carry items at all.

Why this idea to begin with .. simple .. because Town portals are no more .. you will have to run around looking for the nearest check point to go to town .. so dealing with excess items will be a little annoying.|||Are you sure Town Portals are gone? I didn't hear anything about that. It wouldn't make sense for a random checkpoint to take you to town. Maybe TP is still in, but on a timer.|||Quote:

I'm not 100% sure when i heared this piece of info but i remember i heard that Town Portal Scrolls are gone for good (Blizz guys said they always provided and easy escape ticket ... even putting them on timer won't solve this).

And let's not forget that check points in D3 are completely different from D2 .. on many levels.

-First .. whenever your character gets killed it is loaded at the nearest checkpoint.

-Second .. Blizz said these will be more available than the checkpoints from before.

So i can understand they have good reasons for this change .. it might actually work out well .. except the storage problem.|||I've also heard that checkpoints are merely spaces in the air. When you activate one, the game just says "checkpoint reached". I don't understand how a patch of air can get you back to town. Town Portals have got to be in. You can see one in the gameplay vid. Like I said, put them on a timer, like ten minutes, longer than the average fight, and you're good.|||my idea was to group a few different ideas together.

1. increased stash

2. extra help (offensive or defensive)

and most of all...

3. adding an extra variation of gameplay or/and an extra level of difficulty.

seems like some of you didn't see that point of my post.

if your hirelings are carrying valuable stuff for you, you'll want to stop plowing through that group of monsters and go protect your hirelings.

the idea can work for both types of players. those that don't want to babysit hirelings and just kill everything simply won't hire help. and there are those that like to collect stuff and carry it around with them and will consider that protection a worth-while investment.
