About auto-stats - Page 2

Imo it will be like in warcraft 3 where every hero get fixed number into stats per level and i like it.|||I just feel like with the fixed stats, we wont be able to bring out our characters full potential. They argued that almost everyone ends up having the same stats anyway, why cant they stick to manual stat allocation, and the people who want weird builds can have their weird builds. Im not very comfortable with D3 being item-based.

Why'd Blizz have to go from one extreme to the other? IMO i think they shouldve met in the middle and let us have a tiny bit of control over our stats. Everyones begging for it, and the others "dont want to judge to early" or "reserve their opinions".|||I would rather distribute my own stats, I earned them I should decide where to apply them and when.|||Quote:

everyone is not begging for it, imo i just like it, never thought it was any fun to put out the stats.

And when whe did everbody just used the same stats anyway.

And i remember my first few chars, back when the game was new when i put ALOT of my barbs points into energy becouse i runed out of mana all the time in my first few levels...

Its just that as soon as somebody dont like a thing in D3 they have to go and whine about it, make 10 threads about it and so on.

If i wanted to i could make ALOT of threads about everything i like in D3.

Its just that the whiners are much more heard then the ppl that like the things, becouse there is no need for us to make a thread that says *ZOMGS I LOVE THIS (insert random thing about D3) SO MUCH 111!1!*|||Hey DizAndyVan, i know exactly what your talking about when u mentioned the ability to adjust your stats while u first make your character. that's done in Ragnarok Online. which i am currently playing. its a great feature. and they should definitely take that into consideration for D3. so that when the system gives you your stats automatically, its at least doing so in the manner that you want. its actually solves the issue completely if u think about it, for those who are not liking the auto stat system. simply because your giving the system guidelines yourself from the get-go.|||Quote:

For the love of God.

That ain't true.|||Okay,

You want manual stats and I understand I did enjoy that in D2, but making them automated will make balancing the game a lot easier in terms of PvP and PvE. Due to the nature of the beast having a high stat in D2 ment that a zealadin, fury druid, (insert a fast hitting build here), could beat out those that were aiming for a more PvE build, if they were PvP built.

Again, making the automated stats isn't going to change much you just have to be open minded and think that gear is the real key. you want a battle wiz. Go grab some plate and a sword since there is no strength requirement. If you want a shouting barb grab some cloth or leather gear and get to yelling. But please don't yell about the stats not allowing for customized characters. I hated seeing the same character in D2 because they had the same build, same stats, and same weapon the gear yea it was nice but wasn't important if you had the other 3.

So I find this change welcomed and maybe will make people think about what they really want to do and not just follow the hardest hitting or the most mana regen build but that could just be wishful thinking.|||Quote:

The question is, wouldn't it be better to have a little bit customibility (?spelling) with a little bit less balance. Balance is important, though it shouldn't be to important. Eventually, you play what you want, and if there is a builds that stronger, nobody forces you to play that strong build.

But how are you going to have enough life for a mele sorcerer. You'll end up focussing your gear towards life. And even though that isn't a problem, I don't think gear should be stat focused. That ain't the function of gear, that's the function of stats.

And note that if you have manual stats, you can make even different builds. Now when everyone can use the same equipment without any problem, you won't find debate of full life versus max block. Or even the debate about that groovy weapon that is to heavy, it is worth the points in str to wear it - these are possible DII examples as we/I don't know enough about DIII to give examples, yet I hope you see that this is a possibility.

If people are following a guide, it's because they want to. Fine, when you start playing, hell is to difficult to go without good builds - that's a little flaw - though once you get some decent equipment, you can do what ever you want. If you want the hardest hitting build, that's you choice. We don't force you do to this. So if people make the same builds, it's because they want to, not because stats are useless.|||I see your points Nase, but personally I found it silly that there were only 2 viable builds for each class in D2 that people would play. I.E. nova sorc, skeleton necro, wind druid, javazon... and so on; and if you wanted to play something else it was like you said too hard to do in hell mode without help or good gear to over ride the skill tree.

I had this happen personally with my Fury druid who I had to change to Plague or wind when the patch came out 1.07 I think due to the low amount of damage I did due to no synergy bonus.

So I guess I'm saying that Blizzard made only a few builds worth using and not so much the players.|||Quote:

That's not true - not in the current patch anyway.

I agree that some classes don't offer many different, powerful possible builds - druids are one of them. Yet there are classes that have a lot of builds. For Amazons, you have lightning amazons, bowazon, frostmaidens - with or without strafe as backup, fishyzons and lf/strafe hybrids. For sorcerers, you have meteorb, blizzbal, full blizzard and lightning. And you could probably make some very decent different combinations - blizzwall forinstance doesn't look to bad on paper.
