Do flintlock type guns have a place in Diablo? - Page 2

That totally killed the game for me and I quit.

lol... no comments.

Technology and daggers? Could have at least bothered to play the game. Just because you lack the imagination to visualize something doesn't mean it doesn't work.|||Ive said it before and I will say it again

if they let guns in who know whats next? would we be getting cars in the expancion packs??

lol witch docter driveing a car|||Necromancer will not be in Diablo 3. Please don't resurrect old, horrible threads.|||yeah, i have to agree with the masses, Guns and the Diable universe shouldnt be mixed, i mean come on... strafe with a gun... NO!|||I am totally against guns in D3 and even if I were in favour they would have one major drawback.

This thread seems to be in agreement that any guns in D3 would have to be low tech, one shot, black powder muskets to show a realistic evolution of weaponry over time. My point is, what good is a one shot musket going to be in the face of a boss pack? Would we have to use multiple 1 shot guns or a big blunderbus that would take out half the screen?

Guns have no place in this game. I was a big fan of The Settlers series and that died for me when blackpowder came in. You could build a few cannons, drag them into position and blow the hell out of your opponents. No strategy, no fun. My concern is that if and when guns make it into Diablo some of the classic gameplay will be lost.

I am reminded of a scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark, in the market with the guy doing all that fancy sword play until Indy pulls a gun and shoots him. Same scenario, I have a nice Lvl 93 Barb in D2 doing serious damage, but even he would struggle if shot in the head from a screen away.

Please no guns.|||Quote:

Huh, will do a lot of course ... like what can a dagger or a crossbow do to the same boss mob !!!? .. not pretty much ..... seriously .. a cannon-gun can blow the hells out of that boss mob (sanctuary language XD) ... specially if the gunpowder is fire or poison enchanted for example.

Basically it will fill the niche of high damage weapons with long reload and splash damage.

Crossbows tried to fill the niche of slow high damage weapons but it failed miserably ... time for something more viable to fill that niche.

There are already hand held cannons in the history of weapons.

That's not for you to decide .. and it is the most miserable argument i heard in a long time .. i'm sick of people repeating it over and over.

And even if Bashiok said there will be no Guns ... the Devs team could change their minds when they realize how stagnant and unimaginative Diablo arsenal of weapons has become ... or he even could be tricking us .. who knows !!!.

That's not real life, in real life you could kill a person with an arrow to the head from a mile away ... in Diablo it doesn't happen cause it's a freaking game .... the Gun-cannons will simply follow the same game logic.

Come back when you have a good argument.

There are already many reasons as to why guns will enhance diablo experience.

1-Fill the niche of slow but highly damaging weapons (while being viable unlike crossbows)

2-Offer more weapon choices as it is VERY clear that Diablo arsenal of weapons is getting stagnant and boring ... it needs more variety.

3-Allow for creative class builds that completely depend on the high damage of their gun-cannon weapons which allows them to invest the majority of their skill points in defensive and passive skills.

4-Fits with the lore that hinted at the invention of powder based weapons and fits with the fact that 20 years had passed which require showing how things changed during that time.|||Quote:

Knight_Wolf, I'm disappointed in you. Guns? Seriously!? It would kill the style. Guns are a pretty big shift. It automatically implies that the world is closer to ours, which is not what Diablo is about at all.

I mean, try to imagine a Witch Doctor, or a Wizard, or a Barbarian wielding a gun. It's just not right.
