Once again, End Game+

[:1]I was posting in a topic on the official Diablo 3 forums (one made by Risingred) it was about End game content and how it could be made without putting too much resources into making 100% new stuff for it .. then it struck me ... that's what Console games have been doing ever since consoles came to exist (maybe a little later than that .. but whatever) .. EXTRA MODES (PC games used Depth and complexity for pretty much the same effect) .. that's how console games always extended their play time beyond the normal single player experience (it was a time before Multiplayer games made it to the consoles).

Challenges ... Time attacks .. Horde modes ... Boss Rushes .. Inverted versions of the game (i.e Castlevania: SotN inverted castle .. look it up) .. etc etc etc ... there are tons of modes and options here .. and each doesn't require creating much new content .. it is basically taking the content in the game and playing around with it .. changing the rules and manipulating players expectations .. all without negatively impacting the main single player experience which is in a realm of its own.

And before you go like "Console games ... eeeek" on me .. get off your high-PC-horse and examine the issue with more objectivity .. both PC games and console games learned a lot from each other while keeping their uniqueness .. it is only when people try to blur the differences that it ruins both ... Console games could have some complexity without losing their accessibility .. and PC games could use some variety, accessibility and different "extra" modes without losing their depth or complexity .. everybody wins.

So now let's get to the core of things .. Diablo (like many PC games) has always been lacking in options/modes .. the only mode it had that offered some meaningful longevity was HC mode .. and it was created by simply changing a single rule .. the death rule .. imagine what infinite possibilities come from changing other rules and breaking players expectations .. even balance won't be an issue as those mode quite separate from the main game.

Suggested modes could include but not limited to:

1-Hardcore mode: (a given, and doesn't need explaining)

(rewards: Items/gold//gear/bragging rights/achievements)

(Risk:Dying)

2-Infinite Dungeon: (a twist on HC mode, but it pushes the dungeon random generator to its limits by generating level after level and populating them by increasing numbers of harder monsters, monster types, modifiers and combinations aren't limited by location/theme/act like in the PvE game and HC mode .. so things can and will go crazy further down)

(rewards: Items/bragging rights/achievements) .. no gold

(Risk:Dying is like HC, no more character, and you only get one checkpoint at the beginning of each floor for when you quit and comeback later)

Note: Infinite Dungeon could .. i'm just saying ... could have PvP option (will work great since there are no towns) .. simply a box you tick before you start .. for those who don't want .. they can ignore it.

3-Challenge Dungeon: (While not as endless as Infinite Dungeon or hard like HC it does offer a lot of challenge and also a more controlled challenge, it will have some randomness but not too random, some rooms will task you with solving simple puzzles while fighting or dealing with environmental hazards like fighting in poisonous pools or with flame traps all around you .. each room will have something new and fresh)

(Rewards: Items/bragging rights specially if you reach floor 100 or the final floor what ever its number is/achievements) .. again .. no gold

(Risk:Dying doesn't indefinitely kill your character but it sends you back to room 1 and resets all the rooms structure, challenges and monsters)

4- Horde Mode: (Basically survival mode, let's see how long can you survive the onslaught of monsters with your friends or on your own, wave after wave of monsters will spawn and rush the player/s .. you are given 15 sec between each round and the next to catch your breath and prepare for the next wave)

(Rewards: bragging rights .. depending on how longer you can survive/achievements) .. this time no items or gold .. it's a quick affair unlike the other modes and more like PvP Arenas.

(Risk:Dying ... ends the time attack ... timer and monster waves reset to 0)

5-Boss Rush: (a variation on Time attack/horde mode .. basically beating super enhanced versions of the PvE game act bosses in quick succession and without dying at all).

(Rewards: bragging rights .. depending on how quick you can kill the bosses/achievements) .. this time no items or gold .. it's a quick affair unlike the other modes and more like PvP Arenas.

(Risk:Dying ... ends the rush ... timer resets to 0 and you are back at the first boss)

Those are all the modes i can think of .. i can add more later .. but those are the ones that i felt could fit very well with Diablo and extend its longevity beyond what anyone might expect.|||Something like what you have called Horde Mode was mentioned a while back in the forums, and I think this kind of thing could be brilliant.

When it was suggested before, people complained that it would be too easy a way to level your character - or if it wasn't, nobody would do it. But because of the level cap, anything unlocked once the main game is complete won't really be used for levelling at all.

As long as it can be done without wasting much development time, I think they should definitely add in other modes to play once Hell is completed.|||I've always wanted to see some sort of high level 'dungeon' where you could design a character from scratch and play it to get a sort of idea of how they work. For example - if you've never played a Whirlwind Barbarian you could just create one at max level and fight a ton of monsters to decide how you like it.

That's probably way unrealistic but a guy can dream :3|||I want to see modability full supported (toolset and forums) so that we can create anything we wish to see in the game. Then everyone will be happy. |||I like end-game content in Median XL. Once the game is finished, a whole new game starts, with challenging and hard levels, special quests, hard bosses, new strategies, etc...

G.R.D. (Meaning, lots of new levels, with special tweeks to them. In a sense, new modes. i like it.)|||Quote:

5-Boss Rush:

That's pretty much what most people did in d2. Not sure I'd like to see any more of that.|||I'm really hoping for an infinite dungeon.
