Concepts - Talisman and Legendary sets

[:1]Heya guys,

I've been thinking about how cool the talisman is and the possibility of set items making a show within its 13 (maxed) slots.

Here are the concepts:-

Basic concept for the talisman sets are:-

1. Sets can go between three (lowest number set) to the epic 13 number sets.

2. Given the scale of available slots, the higher number sets would scale throughout the game.

3. Tetris? Sure, if you want to throw more than one set in and it fits - why the hell not!

4. Set piece icons would appear broken until the set is made (remember making the staff and flail in D2?).

5. The higher and more epic sets would not only form a larger picture, they would also animate.

6. A 13 setter would not only animate but change the UI's skin.

That's a general outline for that concept, of course multiple stacking of sets would be a pain to balance but who doesn't want more power?

Second concept is a Singing Set (has to be Legendary). Basic overview is:-

1. The set would give a distinct graphical effect coupled with audio.

2. The audio would be broken up per set item you wore, eg - if you had a full set then you would hear a five second sound bite. If you only had 2/5 set items then you would hear only their contribution to the sound bite.

3. If you actually had a full set, not only would you look uber, the sound bite would proc randomly (with a freaking awesome graphical effect) - possibly a group buff for party members or some nasty AoE for the mobs? Possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

There are a ton of other issues with something this powerful, hence the fact that it had to be legendary to make the set viable. Could you imagine everyone looking the same otherwise? Class specific sets?

Anyway, for your comments guys.|||Talisman set would be interesting and cool. I don't think that they should have too much of a power bonus over regular talisman pieces.

A singing set would be much more like a screaming set. Diablo has awesome and long sound tracks so why would you want to have a 5-second loop playing when you wear a certain set? It would be fun for the first minute, but a hour later it would drive you mad.

The most powerful item sets with abilities that increase with more items from the same set should absolutely not be tied to a single class, and should absolutely not be at a top tier power level. Item sets should be thematic or provide story rather than being an automatic equipment solution. Using class specific items in sets in order to restrict them to a single class is completely lame if you have one or more for each and every class. You could do it once or twice if the theme fits perfectly, like Natalya's set, but don't restrict any more to a single class.

Cool visual effects for item sets is definitely awesome, but this should be a part of the theme of the set rather than reflect overarching power.|||Nice comments Pyro.

The sound loop for the set would proc randomly (more-so rarely to keep it awesome). The sound byte would have to be subtle though, say like a build up of war-drums that climaxes with the graphic/buff etc. Otherwise it would drive you nuts and detract from the game.
