Armory

The Armoury

For Diablo 3, we would like an Armoury which will contain all the equipment that we find during the game. As we play we can get to put weapons and armour, gems and jewellery into it. It should be unlimited in size and allow us to manage it easily.

To gain access to the Armoury, one should have to complete the game at least once. This will return to one's characters family, a Cave that had been converted by the people who lived during the time of the three brothers, D, B and M, as thanks for their defeat. It was used as a weapons storehouse, for things taken during those campaigns.

In the management of the items stored there, there should be the ability to create and delete containers of different types. For example, one could decide to make a collection of rare gloves, and a container is created called Rare Gloves (or some such name). Returning from travels in the wild of D3 with your loot, one can pop into the Armoury and drop of a Bloodfist glove that one has just found on a carver, into this container.

Once the Armoury is created, it can be accessed by any locally saved character, that is any character that is currently residing on the pc that the game is installed on.

It can not be shared by any character connected to that pc, via LAN or the internet. Of course items can be taken from the Armoury by the owner and sold, or items bought and placed in the Armoury.

Additional features to the Armoury could be the ability to take screen shots of weapons or armour, with or without their stats shown. Possibly even being able to "export" stats data to other applications or even print out the stats of a weapon or armour could be interesting.

Basically there are untold features that could be used in the Armoury, and this would allow Single local players to build up a collection worthy of having a facebook page of it's own. One could even use twitter to keep folks informed how well ones Armoury is growing.

--> I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter guys...|||Quote:

I see it taking a lot of server space for everyone holding onto any and all items they want.|||Quote:

Hum, didnt think about that. Guess i thought items where stored in players pc and didnt have anything to do with server.

Well, if this issue could be resolved, keep posting what you think!

(though i am not sure i agree with armory being shared with all characters in someone's pc)|||Hi!

Items stored on players computer = insta hacking. OFC for singelplayer stuff will be stored on your computer, but these kinds of features will be on both multiplayer and singleplayer if they would make into the game.|||Storage is no problem most likely. Say one item is a string of 10 numbers. You'd need 88705 strings for a 1.01 Mb .txt file. Taking one item as 20 numbers means 1 Mb->44 thousand items. If 1 item uses 160 numbers to store, you need 5.5 thousand items to fill up 1 Mb. That's still a lot of items.

I don't know exactly how they'll be stored, but it's not a big deal. Besides, hard disk space is dirt cheap.

Edit: Saving 88705 strings of 10 numbers as a .docx file makes it 104Kb. Compression takes the cake.|||That's basically what Atma is now for single-player D2 characters.

About the size of items, my "unique_set" Atma stash file with almost 5K items has a size of ~200KiB|||I don't think an armoury would be that much harder on storage space etc for blizzard then all the muling that happens now, with all the games and chars and accounts created just for storing stuff.

Would be really nice to have a good way to organize your stuff, even letting multiple characters access it I think would be good for reducing the workload on the servers.
